With reference to Colonial Office letter

No. 53838/10/37, of the 10th January, regarding the

violation of Hong Kong territorial waters by a Japanese

destroyer, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Eden to transmit

to you herewith a copy of a telegram on this subject which

has been received from His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokyo.

2. Subject to any observations which Mr. Secretary

Ormsby-Gore desires to make, Mr. Eden proposes to address

a telegram to Sir Robert Craigie in the terms of the

enclosed draft. The question whether the customs cruiser

is likely to have been refloated without being towed will

no doubt receive the particular attention of the Admiralty.
